Neil,

I admit I'm not really a fan of rural shots, but this one is beautiful. Very spare and almost harsh (and pretty familiar from the area where I grew up here in Canada). I love the way that the shadow of the tree just swallows up the hay bail. And of course the birds in the distance, desperately looking for something edible amongst all this snow and dead plants. Very nice.

I like to see the colour version of this photo. It seems that hay bail get a little posterization, as a result of PS. I think that this photo could be better if you leave a little space on left of hay bail, and if you eliminate from picture the branch in upper right corner and in the top center . THat will give (in my opinion) a more dramatic perspective
