Photographer's Note
Here in Britain, I think we are all amazed at just how mild this winter has so far been compared with last. So here's another picture taken during last winter's snowfall in early December, 2010, only a few hundred yards from our home.
The roads were very slippery and a lorry struggles in the distance to climb the mild incline: the pavements too are almost impassable on foot because snow ploughs have partially cleared to roadway but piled the snow up on them!
If you want to see what this road looks like in more favourable weather, you can look at this map, then drag the little yellow man down to the red cross and pan around.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Bonjour John
Beaucoup de neige l'hiver dernier et presque pas cette année. J'aime la neige quand elle est blanche et pure surtout que le ciel est aussi beau pour la mettre en valeur.
Amicalement

Ha ha John ... Your map has much more detail on it than mine. I did try the little man but it was really difficult to see and pin-point where I was (one tree looks much the same as another from above!). Another shot with that gorgeous winter light A pleasure to look at this snowy wonderland, something I have not seen for years...... I feel a Scottish winter holiday coming on. Warm regards from a very toasty Windhoek, Rosemary

Hi John,
Another reminder of how winter can actually be, at its best. Beautiful blue colours and a perfect perspective. But the yellow man doesn´t know its winter... As a comparison, I found this place in northern Värmland. If you use the yellow man here and place him at the red cross, you will find a nice summer picture. Then place him here, just a few meters further north!
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hi John,
You are right about this winter's weather, I have never seen it so mild at this time of the year. I have also noticed that whenever is freezing here is pouring down in Albania and vice-versa. This year it is absolutely covered over there just like it was here last year. There definitely is a connection.
This picuture is a clean and sharp as the snow itself. Beautiuful light as well.

Aleks

Hi John What are we getting to when we have to be saying to ourselves " Memories are made of this.... " All I hope is that it wont be another ten years without snow for it will get to " When I was young we used to have snow here at Christmas.. maybe as we stand outside in our summer kit.. " I go on.. a great show with good low level light. PS a 20D still does a great job.. well done and TFS Rich

Hi John
another memory!
yes, our winter this season is very mild as well.
as for the photo, love the large white streak of cloud in the sky, it adds so much interest to the overall look of the scene. the snow has a strong blue hue to it, very normal.
PS..what the heck is a Lorry?
Cheers

Hi Joh n, So I can see how it looked like near your home last year. Wooow, a lot of snow. beautiful view. But on the other hand, why all complain there is no winter? No problems with snow removal, cheaper warming the house, safer roads.. Like you write here, I had problems what to do with snow. last winter, and previous one. Like here here
Warm regrads

Hello John
I love this snow scene! It`s great!
It`s nice to look back and see what is sometimes a distant memory.I feel rather cheated with the amount of snow we`ve had this year, and wish I had taken lots more last year, but being on crutches was rather a hindrance, but hey! there is still time yet.
Many thanks for all the comments you have given me in the past .Much appreciated, and often not worthy.
kind Regards Gladys.
