Photographer’s Note
Just outside Lerwick is Clickminin broch, one of these prehistoric fortresses with a round structure like a small dungeon, surrounded with circle walls. Although there are several examples in the Shetlands (the best know being the famous Moussa broch on Moussa island), this is the only one I had the opportunity to see. One of its main interests lies in its location, on a small penisula in the middle of a lake, which I did not have the possiblity to photograph but that you can see if you follow the link to this page of Shetlandopedia: http://shetlopedia.com/Clickimin_Broch
In workshop, two other views of the outside of th broch, one showing the very narrow entrance.
And the extract of Shetlandopedia on this monument:
Clickimin broch is a large, coastal broch in Lerwick, Shetland. On the inland side of the passage to the broch there is one of the very rare "footprint stones" (otherwise called "devil's footprint") indicating where the safe passage way starts (a similar footprint stone is for example found near the old ford to Eilean Donan castle, which is now linked by a modern bridge). The entrance to the broch itself is blocked by a separate fort. The site is maintained by Historic Scotland.

Hello Emmanuel,
You took a very nice picture about the construction out of prehistoric fortresses in Scotland.
Very well quality and nice sharpness and clarity, good note too. A very old picture but today an reality image. Very well done. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Emmanuel,
This is interesting, as it reminds me of the fortresses we build from snow when we were kids!
I know it is hard to judge as here is no scaling but the whole structure seems to be quite small...
I have no idea about the age but I would not be surprised if this dates back to the Viking era; an interesting image with good details!
Greetings,
Pablo -
