Photographer’s Note
Hi folks,
I've not been around TE for a long time, though I do have a look around occasionally. I've been busy developing my portrait and wedding business.
However a few books I got a Christmas, particularly one of Joe Cornish's have inspired me to get out again. So on the last day of the year I went out chasing that elusive winter light. It was cold and pretty grey all day, so this is the best I could manage!
Shot using a 2-stop grad to hold detail in the sky. Very little processing, just some global adjustments in Lightroom.
Cheers and best wishes for 2009 to all!
Craig

A beautiful picture. I like the exposure you've chosen here. The closed aperture creates a nice, deep DOF and the long shutter speed gives the water almost the appearance of cloud cover being seen from above.

Hi Craig,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! Nicely made image full of mood and chilliness. Captures the ruggedness of the Scottish coast quite nicely I'd say. I'm a tiny bit distracted by the darkening at the top of the wood pole caused by the filter but not terribly so. Maybe a soft edge grad might have mitigated the effect somewhat.
Cheers!

Nice to see you around Craig! I like you seascape (you know me... where there is salt...) very much, specially the foreground light on the rocks and the golden turf. I would probably try to extract more color from the colorful stripe in the sky (if possible, of course). I agree with Bob. The top of that pole is a bit too dark to get unnoticed. Maybe a local dodge in photoshop will work...
Wish you (and your two loved ones) all the success for 2009! Lots of weddings and portraits! ;) And some coastal scenes too. Stay safe, l.

Hi Craig
great landscape, well composed with fine colors and light. Good effect on the water thanks to the exposition time.
A peaceful place indeed.
Happy new year to you,
Yannis

bonjour Craig
I like the play (contrast or harmony ?) between fore and back grounds : colors, "textures", elements .
and, like an hyphen, the wooden stake.
best wishes.

Hello Craig,
I love the natural colours you captured here, especially on the rocks in the foreground. The overall feeling I get with this scene is an interesting mix of beauty (bottom) and threat (darkened top of the picture).
Great work.
