Photographer’s Note
Another picture taken last week during my leisurely drive through the Scottish Borders, this time just by Tweedsmuir on my way to visit one of my favourite haunts, the Talla Reservoir.
I liked the lighting here and the curving lines of those rather decrepit iron fences.
Shot in RAW using a circular polariser and converted and edited in PSE6.

It is a very nice perspective and the curvy road adds dynamism to the shot. I like the contrast between the snow on the trees and the blue sky. It conveys some warm weather after the snow fall. The light is well managed and the colours are great. Well done.

I love winter scenes, so this makes perfect viewing for me!
I love the winding snow covered road more than anything, but also the trees create a cosy safe feeling too.

Hello John,
I love your picture breathing out the coldness and fresh air. The only thing I am missing is a glass of hot wine :-).
Best regards

Hi John,
Another Christmas card! The strong diagonal from upper left to lower right is obviously very important here to the composition. The sharpness and colours are excellent, as usual.

Hello John,
This really is a superb composition.
All those leading lines - the sides of the road, the black railings against the snowy bank on the left, and the tops of the trees, take the eye on to the point where the curving road disappears into the distance.
A lovely play of light on the FG snowy road, and dark green conifers contrasting with white clouds in a blue winter sky.
Excellent
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi John,
Great looking bright winter scene after snowfall. Good contrast. Curving road has nice rhythm. I can imagine how carefully people drove there.

Hello John,
There is something so enticing about snowy photographs. We hate the snow on the roads but how wonderful it is to see its beauty where it can do us no harm!
Your pov is perfect so that the snaking, darkened road leads the eyes naturally and leisurely between the flanking, majestic trees towards the snow-covered, distant hills.
The light makes a pleasing contrast between the opposing roadsides.
It's sharp and clear; a real eye-catcher.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John.
Taken over a month ago, but I only discovered your excellent gallery via your note about dougie's shot.
This landscape is truly marvellous. What a picture! You stopped in a great spot to capture the seemingly endless curves in the narrow road. Is this one of those roads in Scotland that has lay-by spaces every so often for cars to pass? The sunshine and shadow are both beautifully captured, and the detail in the snow and the tyre-churned road is remarkable. A beautifully balanced scene, with saturation close to the limit but at a very pleasing point. Absolutely great work.
Regards,
Andrew
