Photographer’s Note
A hard working drummer in a hard working band. Lights Out By Nine play powerhouse Rhythm and Blues, arguably Scotland's best, based in Fife but with a growing international reputation.
Drummers always seem to be at the back of the line-up, in the shade, hiding behind the drums, and therefore notoriously difficult to frame, but I think it's good to shoot the darkness as well sometimes.

Hola Dougie Johnston :
I have liked this simple image in B/W, I think that you have obtained a good work of framing and contrasts.
Congratulations friend.
Best regards.

Hi Dougie. You are right about capturing the darkness, having every bit of the photo exposed is impractical and often detracts from the image. My first impulse would have been to crop this to a horizontal format but on seeing the result you have, this works best. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
All the best for Oh Eight, Paul.
PS When is the NZ tour? ;-)

Hi, Dougie,
as always your lighting is just superb. Beautiful shading and contrast. You do great work with B&W. I might have been tempted to crop this into a square format, but I like that format. I think this would have been nice done that way. Great work, though! Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly
