Photographer’s Note

Taken in the early morning with a promise maybe perhaps of a rain-free day after a stormy night.

Nestled within an area of outstanding beauty in the Tweed Valley, 23 miles south of Edinburgh, the Borders town of Peebles sits straddling the river

A Royal Burgh since 1152 and the rule of King David I, Peebles has for many years been a market town cherished by locals and visitors alike for its picturesque and unspoilt character.

Used a polariser to brighten the slate roofs which were wet.

Hello Dougie,

in spite of the bad weather, you managed to make a good shot of this nice little town. I like the composition with the bridge and the river next to the cathedral.

Hello Dougie,
nice landscape and a nice early light. The misty atmosphere is so typical of this summer.The bridge across the river and the town with its cluster of buildings seems typical of the Royal Burghs. This image should be framed to remind us of summer 2007.

Nice composition and POV. The long exposure worked well for you here giving the photo nice sharpness and DOF in low light. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. The river forms a nice diagonal line through the shot. Your placement of the church is very good giving the shot a sense of direction.

Hi Dougie,
excellent composition of a beautiful place. Very well chosen pov with the diagonal river and the fine grass blades in foreground. The fog in the background matches very well with the silvery river and the dark architecture. TFS.

Lovely shot of Peebles Dougie. Once spent a night there in the 80s and this shot captures the place just as I remember it. Nice one.
