Photographer’s Note
Had a break because of being very busy but hoping it may stop raining sometime to get outside for a while.
Another shot of local musical talent, of which there is so much in this area, and in the rest of the country of course.
Could do nothing about the 'predatory' microphone, just trying to catch the shadows. Originally colour and converted.

Hi Dougie,
Mics are the bain of my existence, however there's just no getting away from them - al least with a vocalist there's often some interaction with it - i.e. gripping in a style that suits the music. But with instruments it is just there!
I like you BW conversion here, it's got a really nice tone and detail. Your crop/framing doesn't work for me - it's too awkward. I would have tightly copped this to a portrait format - you would lose parts of the player, but in my experience that doesn't cause a problem.
Shutter speed is good for a bit of movement, but a shtter of around 1/100 usually gives some movement, and guarantees a sharp image - it would also let you stop down to f3/2 to make the image even more intimate.
Hope my critique helps
Cheers

It is a really beautiful picture full of elegance, I like the violinist posture and this intense black and white who lets perceive only few parts of his body... Congratulations and sorry for my poor english...

Hi Dougie
Beautifull vision. Excellent sharpness and light. The cropping give a nice concentration.

hi dougie ,great idea in b&w format as it really brings out the textures and some great tones,i like the slight movement as well giving the sence of speed .maybe a tighter crop is the anwser but neverless its an excellent shot ,and i bet it looks great large

hello Dougie,
I think this is quite masterly. I like the blackness. For me it creates atmosphere. But I am also interested in Craig's critique, especially about the shutter speed.

Same here Dougie, flamin' weather. Love the b&w you have done of the violinest. That touch of movement works really well and the lighting is really very good.

Hi Dougie.
What an excellent B&W presentation!
I like so much the shadows here, while light draws from the dark the presence of the musician during his performance.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Yo Dougie!
Great detail and authentic look in this photo. The black and white really suites the scene and I like the clarity in the face of the musician but the movement in his bow hand.
Cheers
