This year the UK TE meeting was organised very well by John Cannon (Tyro) in the Scottish Borders, Scotland. We all had a wonderful time. Excellent pictures have been posted by mkamionka, Tyro, MJR, mjw364, royaldevon and willperrett (Ricx - where are you?).
I thought that I would show a picture of the Old Parish Church taken from the Tweed Bridge. The church was constructed between 1885 and 1887 in Gothic style. The Tweed bridge was orginally constructed in the 15th century but rebuilt in 1663 with more changes later. Peebles was involved in the woollen industry until the 1930s and stands at the confluence of the Rivers Tweed and Eddleston water. The Tweed flows eastwards into the North Sea at Berwick upon Tweed, England. The hilly and rural area that surrounds Peebles is on the eastern part of the Southern Uplands in the Scottish Borders. Interestingly, much of this area is further south than the Northern part of England (Northumberland).

You've found some sun! I blinked and missed it. Very nice composition and warm colours; good definition in the sky, and impressive building (and I don't mean the pub).

Very attractive vertical capture. The church tower is surely impressive. Well taken, enjoy a nice week.

A good choice for the point of view, creating an interesting juxtaposition between the elegant silver lamp and the unusual church tower. I also like the frame offered by the threatening clouds at the two upper corners. The image is pleasantly lit and has good colours and sharpness.

This is the classic viewpoint from which to take The Old Parish Church of Peebles and this is a very fine rendition too.
The low-angle late afternoon sunlight has given some lovely light and strong shadows with which you have coped very well indeed. Fine composition, lovely rich colours and exquisite details and sharpness.
P.S. I really can't imagine that you don't have many good pictures from the Scottish Borders: I rather suspect that you are just being your usual self-effacing self! :o)

che bella la luce che hai trovato e l'hai utilizzata molto bene in questa composizione.
Mi piace la ripetizione di tutti questi elementi verticali, con architetture antiche e cose più moderne.

beautiful capture of this unique church. I think John has a similar one in his collection. I remembner when I first saw it I hoped to take a blue hour shot of this tower across the bridge but the only one evening I was in town it was raining anyway. I like its tower slightly resembling the tower of cathedral in Newcastle. Great light here with long shadows and everything set against a lovely sky.
Perfect postcard like presentation exactly as I like it,

I wonder if there is an option here on TE for photos taken specifically from TE meetings?
There aught to be a group or a theme for that...maybe there is and I just don't know where to find it?
I'd love to see just TE meeting photos all grouped together!
lovely photo here Ann, its great to take photos before or after a rainstorm, the light looks fantastic.
and I like how the towers fit into the scene, the sharpness, the contrast, and the overall subjects...very nice!
enjoy your day

Hi Ann, I am sure that John organized everything perfectly :), I follow the pictures taken during this meeting and I am jealous I wasn't there :).I got inspired by them so much and I go to England in the end of this month for a micro TE-meeting. Very nice shot, the tower of this church reminds me St. Giles in Edinburgh. Attractive composition with the silver lamps.
have a nice day

beautiful church and really beautiful presentation of it!
I can only agree with others-the light and the way it affects the colors is just superb and create really pleasant atmosphere of the scene.
I like also your POV and perspective with the bridge balustrade leading our eyes towards the church(with the short break to admire this beautiful, stylish lamp:)
Have a nice day

super shot of this wonderful church tower, it dominates the skyline in this perfectly balanced composition. Autumn light is always more intense and crisp after a rain shower and this has been captured superbly. Gloriously detailed image.
