Good Morning Everyone,
This shot shows the impressive Barony Castle Hotel, Eddleston.
The hotel has a most interesting feature in its grounds. It contains a topographical map of Scotland, created by Polish students in recognition of the hospitality shown to Polish soldiers during WW2. An eye-level photograph in no way compares with the bird's eye view on this link. The article also explains the history and much about the modern renovations that are being undertaken.
We visited this most interesting place during a great TE get together in the Borders of Scotland. John (tyro), Ann (annjackman), Will (willperret), Richard (Ricx) were friends from earlier meetings and it was great to meet up again but it was equally fun to meet Mike (mjw364), Mariusz (mkamionka) and Martin (MJR)for the first time. I just have the feeling that it won't be the last time ....!
I hope we don't bore you all with shots that are very similar but, individual styles will, no doubt, shine through!
Have a great day,

Hello Bev - The recent TE meeting sounds like a great gathering and as you say, I am sure all posts resulting from the get-together will bear each person's individual stamp. The white rendering on this attractive building lifts it from the traditional dark stone Scottish castle and gives it a much more elegant and lighter look. I see you took this before the lashings of rain hit the UK and the result is pleasantly lit and attractive. I do like the inclusion of the Fg greenery, both for the colours and the framing they give the shot. A fascinating story and link about the map too. Warm regards Rosemary

You were indeed lucky to have this pleasant weather for your TE meeting! A beautiful picture of this castle and also very interesting link, with the map of Scotland!

Glad your home safe n sound!
This is what you lot got up to whilst I was making my way home then! I'm jealous. Wish I could have stayed but I had my appointment.
Well composed shot and good use of the tree to frame the shot too.
I most definitely know it won't be the last time we all get together!

yes, a wonderful TE meeting for sure!
good times, good people and i'm sure good memories :)
thanks for the link too, it was great to see it from an aireal view.
Oh I hate to be nit picky, perhaps its my bad mood right now :)
My only nit pick would be wanting you to move just 1 step further in, that way the branch wouldn't be blocking the top rounded turit. I'm being too picky arent' I! :)
maybe i'm just jealous for not being there with you guys haha
lovely light, lovely colors, lovely subject, what's not to like!
enjoy your day
and i'll keep an eye out for the other photos from this gathering

A fine capture of this most interesting hotel with a Polish connection. The wall makes a good lead line whilst the framing shrub counterbalances the building in the background. The image is pleasantly lit and has very good colours and sharpness. I imagine it's rather expensive to stay there, a bit like a French château hotel?

Quel beau château niché dans la nature. Le regard suit bien le petit sentier dans l'image, ce qui lui donne une belle profondeur. La blancheur des murs capte bien la lumière et de plus, le ciel est parfait.

A castle-Hotel, beverly? well you must have felt like a Baronees in Barony...
Beautiful shining white edifice, great POV chosen, and a real pleasure to be a guest there. Probably dip in its green surrounding's.
I looked up Google-map, lovely small rural town with an interesting one ( or two) long (High)streets.
Thanks for added a bit to my knowledge...

did wonder how the TE meet was faring, as you probably know John invited me, but unfortunately I could not attend through personal reasons. This looks like an amazing place to stay and your fine image does it full justice. Looks distinctly Regal and imposing.
Regards - Brian
Can I just say a big thank you to all who were concerned about us southern Englanders during the recent coming of St Jude (the storm). Despite being a bit scary with the wind howling around the house sounding like an approaching train; thankfully I survived as did the huge tree that sits outside my property. B.

I remember it well: a couple of hours of sunshine! Well grabbed.
My train wasn't going to make it to London, so I got a different one to Bristol and then found a train from Cardiff going to Portsmouth; only a couple of hours longer than the original schedule. And yes the boat is fine, thanks: I went out to check it over this morning.

Thank you again for driving me around this beautiful region. It was a continuation of the tradition of hospitality for Polish people there :)
On the second day we were obviously more lucky with the weather.
I remember passing this bridge and I have to admit I have never looked this direction I was so focused on whatever was under the bridge. It seems I missed a great opportunity here! I like very much your picture, this is exactly how I would like to photograph it as well. The light was fantastic and the resulting colors are so vivid. Amazing blue sky -probably not very typical for Scotland... Everything framed with great colors of autumn.

Lovely capture of this picturesque hotel with its conical roofs on its towers . Well composed with the the little wall on the left hand side acting as a lead in to the shot and the greenery on the right which softens the starkness of the black and white.

Ciao e buona serata

Well, now we know what you've been up to for the last couple of weeks. :) Sounds like you had a great time, and I'm glad everyone made it back safely in the storms. I look forward to seeing the many different approaches to the subjects from this meeting of the minds. :)
Appears bright and beautiful on this day for sure, the soft blue sky harmonizes well with the off-white exterior of this impressive and elegant hotel. Too bad some of the tree branches got in the way, but it certainly does not detract from the beauty of this location, nor your fine execution to capture it with detail, color, and focus. Welcome back. Enjoy the day ahead.

Some fine results indeed posted from this Trekearth meet, and like you say, individual styles shine through so well. This is a fine building, and I like that you took this from behind the bushes like this, almost like we are peeping into a world we shouldn't be. That map of Scotland is a cool addition to the place as well, and judging by the picture you linked, its quite huge! It reminds me of the weather man on some morning show on ITV years ago, where he used to run across a floating map of the UK and I always wished so hard he would fall in :)
All the best

interesting note and useful information in it accompanied by a very pretty image. I like the leaves in the foreground which frame the wholeness so neatly and create some depth. The white and grey building is a lovely piece of architecture and dark blue sky as a background highlights its beauty.
Thanks for sharing
