Photographer’s Note

A temperature inversion gripped most of Highland Perthshire today.

Thankfully climbing out of the dull grey conditions to the summit of Cairn Liath on th Ben - Y - Glow range we were blessed with one of the finest views ever experineced in the Highlands in 30 years of climbing.

As far as the eye could see was an ocean of clouds but with a ceiling of about 800m the pristine Highland peaks peared out of the merk, like nunataks on the Greenland ice cap.

A setting sun added to the awesome specatcle of mother earth at her best; the vapour trails of high level jets can be made out above Sciehallion, the peak to the right of the picture
