Photographer’s Note
This building in Greenock was belonging to an large insurance finance company.
In recent times many companies have moved, leaving these fine older buildings.
Made from Red Sandstone blocks.
This one is now a Bar/pub although has been for some years now, and not due to the present finance crisis.
The sign above the entrance, Free House does not mean free drinks. It means not tied to a brewer to take the beer and drinks they supply. This one is a free house and can sell whatever alcohol it wishes. wine/beer/spirits etc.
I had a photo ready, of just the doorway, too large in pixels so chose this one.

Hello Robert,
A good capture of this lovely piece of architecture nicely crafted in sandstone. The rainy weather suits well rendering the tones and textures to good effect. I imagine city centre pubs like this are likely to survive in the long run, not like the many rural and suburban pubs that seem to be closing everyday in the UK.

Hi, Robert,
It is a very beautiful building, very caracteristic of the British Architecture. I suppose the pub is very popular since it's a free house. Very good note too.
Just a question: is the pigeon a costumer too?
TFS.
Cheers,
Diógenes
