Photographer’s Note
This beach has become something of a Mecca for photographers the last few years: Elgol Beach on the Isle of Skye. It's an hour's drive each way, largely on a single-track road, from the town of Portree to this small but scenic beach, but it's completely worth it. Especially if you can get here for either sunrise or (as in this shot) sunset.
The Isle of Skye has to be the ultimate repository of Scottish scenery. Odds are, if you've seen a beautiful picture of Scotland and it's not in the area of Glen Coe, it's probably on the Isle of Skye. Elgol Beach, Glen Brittle, the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, Glen Sligachan, the Cuillins--these are just some of the many things to see on the Isle of Skye.
I lucked out on the sunset, though I got to the beach a bit later than I would have liked. After snapping about 15 or 20 pictures, I put the camera away and just enjoyed the rest of the sunset with my wife. No better way to enjoy it.

Hello Clark,
I like the formation of rocks in this picture against the sea. Very unique rocks indeed. sunset a little on the ending set but nevertheless a beautiful shot of the entire scene! tfs

Hi Clark,
wonderful light on those rocks. Very detailed. Composition is equally intereting and very well-balanced. Thumbs up!

Hallo Clark!
That's truly an impressive sight. Nature at its best! You managed the really difficult light here very skillful and these rocks in foreground create a wonderful depth into the scenery. A place to feel good ...

Good marning Clark -
You sure have a good collection of images from your European trip. This is a top notch image with excellent detail in the FG but the BG is just a tad soft. When shooting this type of landscape try for f/16 and focus about 1/3rd into the image and that should render everything, front to back, in focus. Also, use the preview button to make sure. The preview in these conditions will be hard to see but if you practice using it in favorable conditons you will know what is in focus so the preview would be unnecessary in weak light. I like the colors and the composition. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Clark,
A fantastic place I would like to see again one day ! You had a great light there, with fantastic colours. The rocks in the foreground create a good DOF.
Regards,
Olivier
