Photographer's Note

Just before you reach the railway station in Achanalt, near Garve you will see a small loch with a dam to its end. this loch was made famous by a photographer who shot a steam train reflection here and it made Landscape Photographer of the year. The loch is mostly a turbulent water so getting a mirror is a challenge. This was take from the mid section looking west towards the early stages of a sunset around 3pm. The sunset is normally a long one sweeping across the sky - so this is in fact south west and not a westerly direction. a 0.6 graduated ND Lee filter helped the photograph of Loch a Chuillin as it balance the glare. A 0.3ND was used on the waters surface as well.
