Photographer's Note

At the stop in Spean Bridge, it was cold, rainy and rather dark. The war memorial in the Highlands was very impressive and made thoughtfully. I photographed the famous war memorial.

"The Commando Memorial, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces raised during Second World War, is located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west of Spean Bridge, at the junction of the A82 and the B8004. It overlooks the training areas of the Commando Training Depot established in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle......" (Wikipedia)

der interessante Himmel unterstreicht die Dramatik, die von diesem Denkmal ausgeht, unterstützt von Deinem sehr wirkungsvollen POV. Ein solches Mahnmal kann man eigentlich nur unter diesen Bedingungen photographieren. Kompliment!

I've been there many times and it is a very difficult image to capture successfully. You have done a great job here. Without the landscape it would just be another memorial statue. You've done really well to retain detail in the cloud without out turning the statue into a silhouette.

I don't really have an opinion of the monument as such, whether it is artistic or just patriotic, but its connection with the surrounding scenery makes it truly impressive. I also think you have used the difficult light very well when placing the statue against the sky and still captured every detail of the two men.

Great capture of the Commando Memorial from the Spean Bridge. Nice view at the monument with proudly standing sodiers and looking at the magnificent scenery . Very well seen and done. Thanks for sharing
