Twilight Blues, a photo from Highland, Scotland

Photographer's Note

I've been looking back at photographs I took in Scotland and couldn't resist posting another one from the beautiful 'Garden of Skye' - the Sleat Peninsula. A picture perfect evening in this tranquil setting

Isleornsay is a small fishing village on the Sleat Peninsula of the Isle of Skye. Across the waters from the village, and over the Sound of Sleat lie the Knoydart mountains of the Scottish mainland, giving a spectacular backdrop to the nearby tidal islands of Ornsay and Eilean Sionnach. On Eilean Sionnach stands a lighthouse built by Robert Louis Stephenson's father in 1857 and automated a little over a century later in 1962.
The lighthouse of Eilean Sionnach is a perfect centerpiece to a quite spectacular bay, surrounded on three sides by cloud-wreathed mountains and the waters of the Sound of Sleat.

Ce phare blanc concentre tous les regards. Il est parfaitement placé dans ta composition dont on admire également les tons bleus variés. Très réussi!

Hello Rosemary,

Scotland is a very beautiful country and it is possible to take many good pictures there. This is one perfect example. You managed to take the photography with a beautiful light and you catched the nice reflection of the lighthouse on the sea.

Hello Rosemary,
A very atmospheric composition engendered by the moody blue tones. Lighthouse and reflection are judiciously slightly off-centre. I like the symmetry offered by the hills and their reflections that are also well placed in the frame. Very god clarity.

Hello Rosemary,

Of course, I thought I recognised this picture and I did - this one must have been taken from pretty much the same viewpoint but at a different time of day.

The light in this is magnificent and I love how the white and yellow lighthouse stands out brilliantly against the dark distant hills and the deep blue sky. The reflections too are delightful.

Gorgeous colours, lovely light, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

How are you? Sorry for my late reaction for the time being. I will rush up this weekend. Your new sereis for UK has started. The best considered framework via so sharp and clear prsentation as usual. So bright color contarst of white and blue is splendid. The moderate shutter speed setting of 1/30 creates so tsteful and fantastic image indeed! Delight light effcet is also splendid. That lighthouse retrained does look historic, and it is captured perfecetly here in a really magnificent landscape. Impressive mountains and the beautiful lake with its fuzzy reflection are class. Great name for he image too!

what a nice horizontal symmetry in this composition, which you have structured on the basis of the beauty of the landscape of mountains and the nice architecture of the lighthouse, as well as in the fantastic visual effect created by the reflections on the water so calm that looks like a mirror.

Hello dear Rosemary

No wonder you can't resist posting another one! I could look at this all day. What a wonderful sense of tranquillity it exudes, despite the fact that its history (liek all of this Island's history) is steeped in so much blood and guts and romance. The blue tones are exquisite and the reflections are lovely and glassy. The lighthouse is a wonderful element, like the cherry on the cake, because this would have been a superb photo even without it. Excellent shot, as usual.

Hello dear Rosemary!
Lovely postcard shot...quite magical! The lighthouse, all n white literally jumps out of the scene surrounded by the dominant cold colour tones. A fine compo sith the focal point that is the lighthouse in the centre. But I was also wondering about an off-centred cropped version...how would it have looked? You are the artist here & you would know better. Fine work!
