Inverness Sunset

For my next photo I take you a little further up north in Scotland, to Inverness, the 'capital of the Highlands'. The photo was taken late in the evening, about 22.30h and three weeks before the longest day of the year, so the sunset could still be enjoyed over the river and the mountains in the background.

Inverness (Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Nis) is located at the north of the Great Glen and at the mouth of the River Ness in the council area Highland. The city has 51.000 inhabitants.

Dag Lars,

Dit was een mooi moment om deze foto te maken, laat in de avond wanneer de zon juist aan het horizont is verdwenen.
We krijgen een schitterend contrast foto te zien met de torens en de verlichting in de achtergrond.
Ook de weerspiegeling in de rivier zorgt voor mooi kleur, zeker een aangename foto om naar te kijken.

Lars! This is perfect!

Personally I can't see a single flaw in this picture! The colours here are just so great. Also the way the building tops are in complete silhouttes and the way they stand out so well against the sky is fantastic! Your composition is also good with the two towers on the left and their reflection in the water as well. Really this is such a good picture! One that goes straight to my favourites!

P.S. Was this taken from the bouncy bridge? The one where when you walk on it it comes back up to meet you!:-)

The clear northern sky is lovely. You framed this well to get in both sides of the river. I like the strong silhouettes and the orange and pink tones in the sky.

The lateness of sunset in the north gives us plenty of different opportunites. The colours here are beautiful and from your POV we can see the mountains in the distance. The silhouettes are perfect to make a wonderful image. Very good work

Bonjour Lars,
une coucher de soleil urbain très reposant , on attend l'heure bleue qui ne va pas tarder.
Excellent POV au dessus de fleuce qui permet de profiter pleinement des lumières des reflets.
J'aime les silhouettes nettes des clochers.

Wow, gorgeous picture, Lars. It seems a bit before the blue hour and it's wonderful seeing the sky soft tones changing from blue, pink clouds and orange in the horizon. The silhouettes on both sides of the river make a marvellous panoramic view. Congratulations, once again.

Hello Lars,
a first rate panoramic capture of Inverness sunset. Indeed, it is so much better to provide the expansive horizontal view here.The silhouettes of the houses in the both sides of the river make the capture more attractive. The subdued light, with the sun still painting pastoral colors in the clouds and the reflections on the water makes this a memorable shot.

It is a simply wonderful takes. The Twilight shades together to frame and the shapes of the silhouettes, make this picture, full of something much romanticism and harmony.

The reflections in water, given the sides, ofecen a great balance. Surely that is an excellent job, congratulations.

I had visited Inverness some 13 years ago & this beautiful image brings meories rushing in. Superb colours of the sunset sky & the silhouettes on either side of Ness River is fascinating. The two spires on the right are attention grabbers. Like this a lot Lars...well done!
