Photographer's Note
As the heat continues unabated in Windhoek (37C+ for the past two weeks), my mind wanders back to overcast days and damp weather.Oh how pleasant it would be to be able to complain about the wet and cold!
This shot was taken from the Elgol slipway from where one can see over Loch Scavaig to the Black Cuillins beyond.

Ciao Rosemary
Complimenti
Ciao e buon fine settimana
Romano

Hi Rosemary
Typical scottish, with rain and sun 4 times a day! Wonderfull overcast sky, and the boat seems very tiny in the deserted loch.
Spend a good FRESH WE!

Bonjour Rosemary
Si on prépare un voyage en Écosse, c'est sûrement pour prendre ce genre de photos. Quel paysage magnifique. J'aime beaucoup cette lumière sur la montagne en arrière plan.

Now THAT'S light, Rosemary - I love how the cloud cover is infused with sunlight, and then at right it just explodes through, casting down on the far mountaintop and spreading along the water. The reflection all along especially the right edge is beautiful, and the small tug off to the left helps to balance the attention. Perfectly sharp and very nicely framed. Thanks!

Hi Rosemary,
Mood and atmosphere are rarely captured so well, this is indeed like a scene from a film. Amazing how the clouds are opened above that one mountain, letting through a beautiful, and perfectly composed area of light which brightens up the entire image. Perfect composition, and classis shot. Thanks for sharing.
All the best
Noel

Hi dear Rosemary
Sorry for my late reply.
I envy you, as you are in the hottest area I am in the cold area. I want to chnage the position each other. Anyway fantastic and dramatic image for severe and rough nature / secnary. Light gradation is so attractive. Thanks a lot and have a good Sunday!

HI dear Rosemary
Oh no, so you're getting the heatwave too? You poor things. I commiserate with you. Especially when it's a muggy heat, you just don't have the energy to do anything. But what a beautiful way to cool down looking at this Scottish masterpiece. The metallic light and the way you've captured it is pure sorcery. I love the way it contrasts with the black, almost volcanic-looking earth. The rugged mountains in the BG and the sun shining through the clouds perfect the image. What a lovely photo, a real stunner.
Have a beautiful day and try to keep cool

Hello Rosemary,
I know this place so well - have been there many times while living in Scotland. Excellent choice to get a nice shot! Very well chosen POV and nicely planned composition. The colors are quite muted but the light brightens up the whole image.
Well done!

Hello Rosemary,
just love the scene and unique, kind of mystery, but still tranquil mood you were able to create here. That´s something we do not see so often as it´s very difficult to captured. You did it perfectly.I think also you couldn´t chose a better timing to immortalize the scene. The sky and light are amazing and make the image so atmospheric.
Have a nice sunday

Hi Rosemary
Good late hour with spectacular perspective and the display of changing light but I like this scene because I thought it has a kind of dreamlike effect to it and almost surreal embraced dramatically by the heavy sky. Love the positioning of the soft lighted glow of the sun holding the eye so well, and the subtle sea colour is so good. This is very tranquil and atmospheric in dreamy tones. Wonderful catch, Congrats.
Warm regards

Hello Rosemary
While you dream of complaining about the wet and cold, we europeans would wish for some sun after the long and drab winter.
Magnificent scenery in a gorgeous light. The still lake under this dark and brooding sky with the sun just peaking trough one hole in the clouds, this is a strikingly beautiful scenery.
have a good sunday

Hi Rosemary,
this is one of your best pictures, it's just gorgeous. Don't know why but I don't feel the dampness and cold looking at it. Despite the heavily overcast skies and the dominant gray colors there's a strange feeling of warmth coming from it. Must be because of that amazing golden light coming through an opening in the clouds which is so perfectly positioned in the photo. Excellent work, my compliments.

Hi Rosemary
The mood of that place is well conveyed with low light, cloudy sky and the black tones of that 'beach'...
Good framing and placement of all elements

Hi Rosemary,
I don't remember when I have ever complained about having too hot weather. I have even visited the hottest place on the Earth, Death Valley in California, in the middle of the summer and I found it quite pleasant. Since several years now I live in Northern Europe and I have phone calls from my family in Poland who are complaining about the very hot summers. I don't remember that feeling anymore.
Great photo here. This is the type of weather which I have almost every day since about 8 years now after I moved from California to Northern Europe. As photogenic as it looks it is really depressing on the daily basis.
Great light, amazing effects on the sky, very dramatic sky and a wonderful seascape.
Excellent work,
M

Hi Rosemary!
Wow, 37? We have 30-32 in Manila, and I'm complaining already, well it's actually the humidity that drains your energy, am not sure about Windhoek. Anyway, I love this shot, that opening of the cloud seems to be a paranormal portal. Love the ambiance, the serenity, the hues of the mountains and the view. It's like a scene from Lord of the Rings. =) Wonderful image! TFS
best regards,
Matt
