Photographer’s Note
St Andrews Panorama
So, after a (far too long) break, I think it's time to post a new photo, well not exactly new, as this one comes from my archives. And that was also the reason for this break, since I just had no new photo material and hardly any good photo opportunities in the last two months. And I didn't know what to upload from my archives. In the end, I decided to post this panorama view of the Scottish town of St Andrews, partly because I love the atmosphere of this picture, it was taken in February last year, but it already felt like Spring and that is quite different from this year, where we've had no real Spring-like days so far. Hopefully, this photo will speed things up a bit, so we can welcome Spring along with days like this one in St Andrews last year soon. :-)
St Andrews (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Rìmhinn) is located on the east coast of the council area of Fife and is named after Saint Andrew the Apostle. The town has 14,000 inhabitants and is known for various reasons:
First of all, it is home to Scotland's oldest university: University of St Andrews (founded 1410-1413). Secondly the town was the ecclesiastical capital of Scotland until the Reformation. And thirdly the town is known as the home of golf.
This photo was taken on a pier just outside the town and offers a view on two landmarks of St Andrews that I also posted before: the ruins of St Andrew's Cathedral and St Andrews Castle.
Unfortunately, the Exif Data got lost, because I had re-installed Paint Shop and therefore it didn't save them automatically anymore.
I hope you like this photo anyway and thanks for your visit!

Hi, Lars.
Welkom terug.
Fulvio.

Lars,
This is a nicely composed shot using the stone wall to lead the eye into the scene. The off center placement of the ruins works well allowing us to see the town to the right. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail.

DagLars.

Very nice composition with water visible on both sides of the pier, the harbour on the left, and the sea on the right. I like the good depth of the image, with the castle and the cathedral fully visible in the background.

Bonjour Lars,

Olá Lars, nice to see another post from you. This place is a bit more familiar to me now, although I haven't been there yet. My wife went there recently for a job interview and I enjoyed a lot the photos she took. This is a nice straight forward perspective. The pier and the rocks at right are like an arrow pointing to the heart of the Castle. I can only imagine the fantastic view from above that tower at left, but I know it's not possible to climb it. Good choice from your archives.

Hello Lars,
It is good to see you back, and even though it is a photo from your archives, it is a very good panoramic image showing St. Andrew's. Of course, I knew about the golf connection and the university, but your note gives additional information — characteristic of all your TE packages.
Warrm regards, and I hope warm weather will soon return here. We had a freak snow fall on March 1. There is 20-25 cm of snow in my area of Virginia, first snowfall this year.

Bonjour Lars

Ciao dear Lars,
pleasant image, rich of details and with an interesting perspective due to the central line of the wall. The warm side light creates a beautiful game of lights and shades on the rock-cliffs and on the buildings. You have really done a good composition, compliments!

Hello Lars,
The interesting old ruins stand out well as seen from this point of view!
The image has fine details, and the dots of red add fine colour contrast.........
A balanced composition with an effective lead-in by the pier/wavebreaker...!

Hi Lars,
Indeed a wonderful photo, it inspiring peace. I like the extended "T" compo with the pier inviting the eye inside the image. The sunny yellow house and the red car are the first things that call our attention in our visual stroll, but then there are the silhouettes on the hill and the ruins on the right tip of land. Beautiful light, great clarity.

Hello Andrew,
A very nice perspective from this good POV.
I regret the presence of the red truck (although its colour is very nice;-) but probably it was not easy at all to erase it before posting your photo.
Anyway, the landscape is very nice, with a very good light on the yellow house.

Hallo Lars,
