Pittenweem, Fife Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another picture of the lovely little fishing village of Pittenweem, in the East Neuk of Fife.

Here, taken from the harbour wall, floats, ropes and fishing nets are seen against the background of the pretty houses with their pantile roofs.

Shot yesterday in beautiful sunshine in RAW using a polarising filter and converted and edited in PSE6.

A fine scene of thsi fishing village, brought in clear and crisp colours. A fien composition too with the diagonal of the nets leading to the houses.

A nice display of colorful fishing tackle which leads us to the lovely houses!
A nice composition adorned with marvellous lighting and sharpness!
The blue sky contrasts well with the rest of the picture thus creating an impact to the capture!

Dear John,

What a huge amount you have packed into this image. The square format works very well here.

The colourful nets and buoys that fill the foreground, balance those strong looking houses, set against the fine blue sky. Even the number 13 on the end of the wooden container plays a part by breaking up the ordinariness of the surface on which it is written.

There are lots of different shapes and textures throughout the image, and your composition has brought them all together with a very satisfying result.

As ever, the sharpness, colours and presentation of the photograph are perfect.

13 maybe unlucky for some ..but not for you with this shot ...those fishing nets with their colors and texture just pull you in and as you say the painted houses with their pantile roofs are exquisite ..I think I would like a visit

Hello John,
I like this better than the later one that I have recently critiqued. Your POV is perfect compositionally. I like the way we follow the line of floats and net up to the number 13. 13 is placed perfectly in the frame.I have a weakness for nets, ropes and accompanying paraphanalia because of their textures etc. The houses are perfectly lit.This really is an attractive conposition.

Hello John,

though your shots from Greece are great, I chose this one - I am really obsessed with Scottish scenes and I do not know why. Maybe I spent there previous life?

I admire the number of colours and flawless sharpness in your shot, the old houses with so many chimneys are so nice.

As for the pictures coming soon, there won't be many I am afraid - I AM SO BUSY. The baby is good, sleeps well, I hope I would be able to pop up here from time to time , though, the older one will start school in September, so I will lack free time even more.

I am happy hearing from you, I am glad I haven't lost all the people I used to be in contact with.
