Photographer’s Note
Because Gunnar (saxo042) liked this picture so much, I thought I'd upload another one taken just a few seconds later!
Here, the "Santa Special" starts to pull out of Bo'ness station and the first strokes of those huge pistons cause emission of clouds of steam from the cylinders accompanied by smoke and steam from the funnel. What glee to behold in those children enveloped in the clouds!
Again, a lovely sunny and bright, although very cold, day - a fine day to meet Santa, receive presents and eat lovely warm mince pies!
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hi, John -
A most unusual shot! The huge billows of smoke, the crisp clear tracks and the people in costume - and also the distant hillside in muted colors - all combine to make this a very interesting image. TFS!

Dan

Great shot. The cloud of smoke creates a sense of mystery, especially with all of the curious onlookers staring in that direction waiting for it to clear. Nicely captured moment.

Hi John,
This is good picture and quite funny. The people are staring on the steam with the horns on their heads. Nice unusuall picture of steam train :)))

Thank you John (cough, cough...)
This is maybe an even better picture, but it is a bit hard to see the nice engine :) But at least you can see a lot of funny hats here! And I believe I can see a genie in the smoke as well.
Regards
Gunnar
