Photographer’s Note
I should really have been doing something entirely different this evening, but when I came across this in my 'scanned' folders I had to try cleaning it up. Then I thought some of my TE friends might be interested to compare it with the same view in 1956. I was amazed at the detail - including the flag just to the left of the new building. Edinbugh Castle is now hidden from view. (I am not sure about the year.)
Filtered with Neat Image, worst muck removed with cloning tool at large diameter, downsized, a lot more muck removed with cloning tool at small diameter. Saved, then re-opened and 'auto color' used. A downsized copy of the original scan is in workshop.
Sorry, it's too late now to look at your pictures tonight.

Hi Winifred,
It is really interesting to see these old pictures. It is also very interesting to see the original photo and it is very clear that you have done a tremendous job to clean and process the old one. Is that chimney to the right still in existance?
Kind regards
Gunnar

Bonjour Winifred,
ah, cela fait plaisir de voir des photos qui ont un demi-siècle. 1959 est l'année de ma naissance. Bien, des choses ont changé dans les grandes villes depuis ces temps là.
Une belle capture de ce ciel dont j'admire toutes les nuances.
Amicalement.
Daniel.

Hello Winifred
You have done an excellent job in presenting this photo from 50 years ago. A very good idea to show the photo as it was scanned - I have never been game enough to do that nor have I noticed anyone else showing the original. Also very interesting to see the same scene from 3 years earlier when you say it was on the same roll of film. Such a contrast to this digital age when we take photos in huge quantities without huge expenses. Tfs, Marlene

perfec your work of restoration of this old image, there were so strange elements "flying" in the original view that we could think there was a storm in that moment. a nice image from the past (unfortunately we aren't able to make photos from the future, hahaha). I liked this pov and the lines and shapes inside the compo
