Photographer’s Note
Just to show that the bridge does have a more modern raising and lowering mechanism than the cogwheel shown in yesterday's upload! That wheel and its gearbox were fitted to the new bridge, installed in 2007, because it was required to be a replica of the one erected about 1950. Now hydraulically operated with electrical controls, it takes 2 minutes to lower instead of the 10 minutes it used to take with the wheel. So I don't know why they keep it raised on a calm day like yesterday; but I suppose the harbourmaster deserves his day of rest too.

Hello Winifred, Sorry you are still feeling frustrated!! It is rather disappointing to learn that the splendid cogwheel is now defunct - but, of course, I do not have the inconvenience of having to wait the extra 8 mins. Very good clear details - shows all we need to know.
Best wishes....Maggie

Hello, Winifred,
MORE splendid light. It actually looks warm and I love all the lines and angles. I always like those in photos for some reason. There are so many nice details and are wonderfully sharp. This is a neat photo even if circumstance makes it frustrating. Very nicely done! Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly
