Photographer’s Note
A beautiful night, but cold. Some friends were holding an overnight party near the beach. As the dusk was falling some other friends came wandering along.
The island behind is the Bass Rock - home to 150,00 gannets, and behind is the coast of Fife. The cross is on a high tide island and is called St Baldred's boat.
It was an odd evening with occasional showers and rainbows over the sea, then out would pop the sun again, and it was chilly - but a real good time was had by everyone. The hardiest partying on till 6 o'clock in the morning or later.

Hello Alastair,
In this large scale photograph you've composed the scene perfectly, keeping the couple and their 'best friend' small and subservient to the power and beauty of nature. It is a wide beach, but with high tides in the area, most of the beach most likely oscillates from being dry and being submerged.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Alastair,
I like your shot a lot, the beautiful landscape, the good light, the different hues of the sand but particularly the strolling couple with the dog giving a sense of scale and a special atmosphere to the image... thanks for sharing!
Kind regards
Guenther
