Photographer’s Note
Every year the village holds a Gala Day. There is a parade of decorated floats, vehicles and villagers. There is also a gathering in the park, when one of the local children is chosen by her peers and crowned Queen. There are also stalls with food, music and sideshows. This year we also had torrential rain.
As well as all this there is the annual Traprain Law Race. The race is 6.4 miles long, crosses the local River Tyne and climbs the nearby hill - Traprain Law, an ascent of over 700 feet Law Race.
This is a shot from the end of the race, with one of the competitors sporting a tou-tou, slightly mucky from the event. I love the way spectators cheer them on.
