Photographer’s Note
A fabulous Spring day in Dunbar. The Sphinx is looking a bit tatty these days, still it's not too bad as it has been there since the 18th Century.
The building was Lauderdale house, built for the Earls of Lauderdale and designed by Robert Adams. It later was used as barracks and is now residential, known as Dunbar House. Not sure why the Earls chose a sphinx though.
The house stands dominantly at the end of Dunbar High Street but I wonder how many people spot the sculpture up high?
