Photographer’s Note
A picture taken at the same site as yesterday's posting, this time of the millpond which provides a "reservoir" of water to feed the little watermill here.
Now owned and cared for by the National Trust for Scotland, the mill is still in working order. The last time I was inside it about ten years ago, the guide opened the sluice gate and the mechanisms all burst into action - a wonderful experience. We were able to purchase a bag of flour too, to take home and bake a loaf.
You can read more about this lovely little mill and its history here.
In the picture, you can also see a little bridge to the left, across which passes a footpath to take you to the Phantasie Doocot, an interesting little dovecot probably dating from the 16th Century and of rather unusual "beehive" design.
Picture taken in April in low evening sun. Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hi John,
A very pleasing image with nice soft natural colours. I like the two trees in the middle which are bending to the left. Must be exposed there (as in windy). You have also captured a good reflection.
Well done

Hi John,
How are you?
Nice picture but not shure about the composition -horizon is going little bit down and the bridge goes out of picture which is always pity and disturb it whole composition.
Anyway nice reflection in water.
Kind Regards
Jiri

Hello John,
Another Constable like subject and composition.
The low sunlight has given you the opportunity to produce another of your fine images. Lovely shadow detail and reflections.
Excellent.
Regards,
Peter.

John,
This is a fine shot of this old mill pond. This is a very peaceful scene and you have presented it well. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail. The reflection gives the shot nice depth and balance.

Asa
