Photographer’s Note
On Thursday the harbourmaster and a couple of boatmen were standing at the top of the slipway, looking towards the sea. As I passed, one of them said "you'll want to see this - they're launching that boat about 4 o'clock". It was then 3.55pm, so I got my camera out and sat on the wall to wait. Workshop shows my view, at the top of the tide. More people gathered round the boat, but nothing happened. It had been a warm, sunny day but by 4.30 it was getting cold and I went inside to watch from the window. At 5.15pm they all went home for their tea, and I put my camera battery on to recharge.
When I woke next morning the tide was low and the boat was afloat. The crane had arrived at 7.30am.
This is the best of several shots from the window, at maximum zoom, holding the tiny camera at arm's length and hoping it was pointing towards the boat.
Rotated, trimmed, reduced in size, unsharp mask at 30%, no other adjustments.
The new-looking fence surrounds the building shown in this pnoto.

Hello Winifred,
Good natural colours here all from nature, also your camera.
Nice calming effect to look on.
Sometimes I think the seaweed is messy looking, spoiling what beach we have, maybe the great Australian sand beaches, they would also enjoy our colours.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Winifred,
This picture really makes me smile, just like the boat here with this big, toothy smile on its "face". It is a very attractive boat and I wonder what the photo would have looked like if you had cropped away a lot of. Well, I did a WS to test this, hope you don´t mind.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hello Winifred.
A pretty good result, given the circumstances of the shot which you have described. It's a pleasant scene with the bright white and red of the boat making a nice focal point. I was just going to suggest a crop, when I saw Gunnar's WS. I would perhaps crop not quite so much, leaving a bit more on each side, but getting rid of the blue boat.
Regards,
Andrew

nice view, the boat looks so small at side of the stone wall. Beautiful contrast between it and the place around, nice framing with the water area nicely put inside the whole compo. beautiful work

Hello Dear Winifred,
I like this shot very much, especially as a sequel to the boat still on the pier. Your note chronicling the hours, and your own efforts is highly engaging.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Fantastic result for maximum zoom, holding the tiny camera at arm's length - it was pointing towards the boat and very well done! Hats off!

Hello, Winifred,
pardon me for being so late - I am sill playing catch-up. I love the misty morning feeling to this shot. That bright little boat shining among the more subdued colors and the red one in the distance. Nice detail and I love the reflection. Looks like morning and much as I love it - I don't see too many early ones..:))) Many thanks and hope you are well..
