Photographer’s Note
Another view of those comic characters brought to life, Desperate Dan, Minnie the Minx & Gnasher.
Same wet grey day as the other view.
The laughter in the characters contrasts with the grim looking building behind.
The columns are part of the Caird Hall donated by a local philanthropist, Sir James Key Caird (1837 - 1916). He was a jute baron and philanthropist. Born in Dundee, he was one of the city's most successful entrepreneurs, who used the latest technology in his Ashton and Craigie Mills.
Frank Sinatra the Beatles and Led Zeppelin played here in the past.
I played around with saturation etc, but decided to leave it as original, with a wee bit of sharpening.

Desperate Dan and Jute City! When I was a wean my parents ran a newsagents and each Saturday morning I'd read the Dandy, Beano, Judge Dredd, Roy of the Rovers etc etc....Happy Days!
So nostalgia gets this image my vote! Typical dreich Scottish weather as well.
To get all arty about it, in the background you have what seems to be a boarded up shop of some sort, with a group chatting outside and a couple of people walking in their direction. Then you have big old Desperate Dan striding boldly away from that rather desolate scene. Symbolic of the recent renovations of Dundee, perhaps!
