Photographer’s Note

This is another picture of R.R.S. Discovery, taken on the same occasion as yesterday's posting, but this time taken of the port bow of the ship and also using a polarising filter.

The Royal Research Ship, Discovery, was one of Robert Falcon Scott's ships and the one in which he and his companions travelled to Antarctica on the British National Antarctic Expedition of 1901 - 1904. This was not the ship in which he made his final fateful journey to Antarctica, reaching the South Pole on 17th January, 1912 but not returning: that ship was the Terra Nova.

For once in Scotland, the GoogleEarth [map] here is quite good.

Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.
