Photographer’s Note

The two-and-a-quarter-mile Tay Bridge spans the Firth of Tay between the city of Dundee and the suburb of Wormit in Fife. The present one was built after the first bridge collapsed during a violent storm on December 28, 1879, taking with itself a train and 75 lives. The remnants of the original bridge piers are still visible even a high tide.
