Photographer’s Note
Up early and out before anyone else got up and demanded we open our presents. They can wait!..I'm a TE addict and so first things first. I wanted a trophy shot of a robin for a TE Christmas card upload. But it wasn't to be. Mr Robin was in this hedgerow but he decided he was going to play shy. Still, I like the shape of the trees and the silhouette they make. Old tupperware grey sky again and still a bit foggy. By the way, what is the difference between fog and mist? No, this is not going to a first line of a cracker joke, I'm just asking. In a city, does a fog become a smog or do you need some yellow pollution for that? Dictionary corner here I come.

This shot seems to capture perfectly the grey, miserable conditions that we've all had to put up with on recent days, although the fog isn't as heavy as it was.
The difference between fog and mist? Beats me.
Someone once told me that mist is actually cloud, ie when you're on top of a mountain and you can't see very far, it's because of low cloud. Fog hangs around in the bottom of valleys and low lying areas, mist is usually higher up. Sounds plausible to me but I could be wrong.
I like the atmosphere here, with the wind-bent trees and grey sky.
Hope you had a great Christmas Bev.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Bev,
Nice perspective and depth with this path, good dynamic effect with the position of these trees, well seen.

Hi, Bev.
The POV chosen adds a lot of perspective along the path. The misty weather, by its turn, adds a spooky mood to the image, great shot!

Hi,
Good dynamic shot with movement in the trees and perspective along the road. Foreground dould be a bit brighter with exposure locked on the road and the trees more in silhouette maybe. Good one though, thanks.

To answer your question, I believe Ben is correct and that smog is polluted fog usually found around large, low-lying cities and they are what used to be called "pea soups" before the regulations came in which restricted the use of smokey coal fires and the like (back in the mid fifties). Whether the wind was blowing or not I love the windswept appearance of these trees. The sky does have some tone which is a plus in the UK as you know. The exposure is good and the image is well composed with the track to lead the viewer into the picture and provide depth to the scene.

Hello Bev
I like this picture. Its sphere is that of a cold morning in which is more preferable to stay in bed. Composition is beautiful, specially because of the wind-formed trees.

HI Bev,
I like your composition wiht the big tree. The road leads the eye nicely - I like the saturated greens that is usual in UK:)
