Photographer’s Note
This is another of the shots that I took at Carrick Bay a few days ago.
I know that most succesful landscape photographers tend to pre-visualise what they want to achieve and set up their kit a long time in advance of the sunset or sunrise or whatever it is that they're photographing.
My approach is usually different; I turn up late with no time to spare, then rush frenziedly around trying to find the best composition. A couple of shots here, a couple of shots there, tripod legs flailing around and sand getting in my camera bag.
Still, it works for me.

Hi Ben,
It has quite different colours than your previous. I guess this was taken a bit earlier?
The sky doesn't look so special compared to so many sunsets here. But low tide water puddles, reflections and waveforms are great on this.
Area near the horizon feels a bit oversharpened.

I can identify with your 'technique', Ben. But it does work in this one, for sure. Lovely mood of melancholy in this subdued sunset. I love the way that pool with lumps of weed breaks up the striations of the wet sand. A superior sunset that deserves more recognition. Great stuff.

Andrew

Very impressive wide view with the converging lines in the sand in front and gradual coloring towards the orange light giving it a fine mood, very clear and sharp shot, sober but powerful.
