Photographer’s Note

Twitchers, otherwise known as bird watchers walking on the Solway Firth shore on the Scottish side. If you look closely you can see a tripod for binoclulars carried on the man's back. This is Mersehead, a RSPB reserve. One of the most beautiful beaches on the Solway. The sand is almost white in the summertime. The sand is covered in shells and a couple of miles or so away cockle fisherman work the sands. The area is a SSS! (Special Site of Scientific Interest).
Today we spotted a rare white barnacle goose among the many wintering here.It wasn't an albino but nearly, according to the information written up on the visitor centre info board.
