Photographer’s Note

Twitchers, otherwise known as bird watchers walking on the Solway Firth shore on the Scottish side. If you look closely you can see a tripod for binoclulars carried on the man's back. This is Mersehead, a RSPB reserve.One of the most beautiful beaches on the Solway. The sand is almost white in the summertime. The sand is covered in shells and a couple of miles or so away cockle fisherman work the sands.The area is a SSS! (Special Site of Scientific Interest).
Today we spotted a rare white barnacle goose among the many wintering here.It wasn't an albino but nearly, according to the information written up on the visitor centre info board.

Hi Bev,
As a part time twitcher (on fine days in a hide with a flask) I can appreciate this one. It's a nice simple shot with good perspective and colour. You'll have a few down there now after the goose! thanks.

Nice shot Bev, good composition and POV looking down the beach. The two figures walking purposefully along add good interest. Good notes too.

Hi Beverly,

birds are so beautiful that I've always harboured this desire to 'twitch' but deep down I know I haven't got the patience! This is a lovely and peaceful beach scene. We have these empty beaches up here but you don't see many people walkinh up and down them, mainly because it's too b****y cold! A lovely shot and a good note too, well done.

Martin Parr was a twitcher Bev. Mind you it didn't surprise me. Good composition and colours of these (friends?) walking down the beach. Nearly at the 1000 points. You will soon be there;) Good luck.
