Photographer’s Note
Deep in the heart of Dumfriesshire the road dips down towards the little village of Durisdeer, nestling in the hills. There are a few cottages and a church. It isn't a through road and we turn and return the same way passing the cemetery as we go.I think about a life led in such a tiny community, living, working and being buried in it's bosom. Would it be safe or stultifying ?

Hi,
What a brilliant title Bev. Give me Durisdeer every time! Good picture, nicely composed and with a wee sense of mystery looking to the village nestled in the valley. Thanks.
Dougie.

wow, this is such a lovely picture. i love pictures with a street/path so much which run to the horizon and creat good depth like this ! i think this is typical scottish weather and the tree on the left shows some perishability of life, which also fits to your comment !
about the safety living there ? well i dont really know what you mean but villagers always live with the cliche of being 'retarded' in a way ( at least thats how people talk about farmers here ). but for me its not stultifying at all, not because i live in a village, but because i like the fact that old tradition are still cherished in rural areas and even old dialect survive there. its all relative

The perspective of the road was excellent... POV was very nice and the tone of the green perfect.. Very good framing and composition also..

Hi Bev,
I like this landscape, good composition and a correct perspective, I believe the illumination levels could be improved, the scene is a little dark, he had been better a diaphragm more closed and a lower speed, anyway an interesting work with a special atmosphere. TFS
