This scene reminded me of the children's book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" written by Michael Rosen. Listen out for the part of the story when they come upon a forest. Here he is performing it.
P.S. There are no bears in Aberdeenshire (at least that I know of)but there are plenty of forests.

There is something charming in this scene- not the least the relationship between the two brothers. The younger one is struggling to keep up, the older is showing off. The three dogs form a nice triangle surrounding the stragglers. Nice POV, almost as if seen by a bird perched on a tree. Regards. Klaudio.

What an interesting note you've written - and what a great link to that little video of Michael Rosen reading the story so enthusiastically! So did you trip and stumble in this forest?? The guy looks a bit like a bear himself, actually!! :o)
A lovely sharp and clear picture with good soft light and fine natural colours. Your composition is excellent, the pathway leading us between the two halves of the picture - pines on one side and tall silver birches on the other - and the people add to the interest too - especially the boy in the distance looking back to make sure that everyone is following him.
Just a pity that you didn't find a bear!

i believe hunting issue belongs to the cave age and further, can never anticipate the hunters of our era, where men already pushed many other species to the verge of extinction. but this is not the point here. your composition with spring trees is so nice that it even attracts the eye as a thumbnail. plus, the kid at the top, captured in between a "V" of branches is a great surprize.

what intrigues me here is just where you were when you took this lovely shot, as it appears that you could well have been hiding high up in a tree waiting for unwary passersby...
The actions of the children as they struggle up the slope through the birch wood are truly delightful.
A cracking shot with loads of charm and interest.
Kind wishes Les.

nice the view of the scenery in the forest with the man,the little child and the dogs to add life in the scene.I like the brilliant light of the scene, the vivid colours as the beauty of the scene.

This is a great shot. Love it. Good light, good atmosphere, the trees very neatly placed one kind to the left, another to the right. It's interesting and charming and the only thing missing is an actual bear.
(There are lots of them in Sweden and meeting one could be a frightening experience, I believe. Contrary to wolves, which a lot of peole hate and fear, the "nice" bears sometimes attack people.)

...Going to catch a big one... I think the young lad is convinced that grandpa is on Bear hunt. This is a fantastic shot! awesome candid, fabulous lighting and lovely details looks like an idyllic spot for a stroll in a cold slight misty morning and the lovely effect that you achieved in limited colour pellette. Smooth, soft and calm situation livened by good people interaction and the ever active men's best friends.
Indeed a fine atmosphere and a great way to enjoy and absorb the beauty of mother nature in such a relaxed soothing environment. It's beautiful cozy well thoughtout shot and seamlessly done, Great capture. Congrats and TFS
...... hope they don't find one!!

Braver men than I was my first thought on seeing this, I donít think I would be going on a bear hunt like this, not unless I was in a tank! Of course, as you state there are no bears (except possibly Rupert) in the forest, but a great association of the shot to the title. Very nice forest scene, a thing I find very difficult to do!
All the best

This is a very attractive view, with all the birches here, it looks almost like a picture from Sweden. The path separates the picture into two sides, a darker and a lighter. All the people add the necessary life. This is a very attractive picture and an interesting note.

When I saw the photo, I thought first of the autumn. But now I see it was taken in early May. Original title. Who travels with children, must make it exciting. A walk in the woods is really a beautiful thing. You've photographed this wonderful scene masterfully.

your point fo view is optimal for the best composition. I like the big format of your presentation and atmosphere. So glad to meet you again and proud of your visit, friend.

Ha! Ha! Bev, what a book! I've used this story for class assembly, for choral speaking and as a format for similar story writing ... it never fails, and young children just love the scary aspect!
I can see why you chose your title!
A beautifully composed shot with the focal elements strongly positioned. The backward look makes a good link between the characters and between the f/g and the b/g.
Have a great day,

The silver birches give a fairy-tale look to this image. The group of 'bear hunters' with their dogs are placed so well on the path. Lovely quality and beautifully handled light.
Best wishes, Ann

A well composed shot - the kind of shot that I have no eye for so I appreciate how you spotted this one coming together. My eye is particularly drawn to the trees n the right - it has a nice compressed perspective with an underlying abstract feel as a result of that and the pattern of the trees.
Shame we couldn't have met in Peebles. Would have been nice.
