Photographer's Note

Taken in Seaton Park, Aberdeen, which runs along the banks of the River Don.

Fallen leaves in the foreground and traces of fallen snow in the mid ground.

Autumn is perhaps the best season of all for carrying the camera I think.

Hello Finlay,

So you've had some snow already in Aberdeen?

A beautiful autumn scene brimming over with lovely warm colours of autumn - browns, reds, yellows - and in sharp contrast to the sprinkling of white snow in the mid ground.

And, yes, I think many would agree that this time of the year provides some of the best opportunities for interesting photography. All we need to do is to hope that we don't have too many high winds to strip the trees of their lovely colourful leaves for a few weeks yet!

Hello Finlay,

I was so surprised to see you calling autumn 'Fall Time' which I only ever connect with people from U.S.A. or Canada, or is it a term in common use in Scotland?
That aside, this is a lovely shot. The colours of autumn are vividly beautiful. I like how you have positioned the focal tree nicely off-centre so that its amber leaves create a canopy over much of the b/g, and it helps to create a fine sense of depth.

Snow already! The seasons are no longer predictable!

This is the nature on his best, the fallen leaves care for a nice carpet but also a lovely color image.
These picture gives a lot calm and clarity in depth between the trees.

Hello Finlay This is a lovely autumn scene. The colors are so rich, vibrant, striking and very autumnal. The low POV creates a nice DOF and a nice view . The exposure gives the trees a nice blur which denotes the chilly autumn breeze. I love the over all effect on the image, calm BG Great Job! Well captured!

I agree with opinion stated in your note.Autumn is really the best time of the year for photographers.The fallen leaves and beautiful colors make this time of the year so unique.You captured excellently its beauty and uniqueness.There is nothing better than a stroll around the Park in a beautiful,autumn day.

The carpet of red leaves in the FG grabbed my attention especially as it contrasts so well with the golden and green leaves still hanging on the trees. The nearest tree is very well placed in the frame. Super quality.

Hello Finlay,
A pleasant composition with agreeable light and autumn colours. The golden foliage in the far background is a definite bonus here; it makes a good focal point and helps draw the viewer into the scene.
