Young King penguins have brown wooly coats that are moulted when they are around 1 year old, revealing the distinct black, white and yellow coats of the adults. There is a glacier on the cliffs in the background and the bird is looking for eggs to snatch up.
The younglings each have their own moulting pattern; some can be seen in this photo with white patches -- that is where the wooly feathers are gone revealing the white adult coat beneath. Some of them had patches of white all over, some had brown wooly sweaters when their head and hips moulted but not their midsection (very funny, I wish I had a photo of that).
The penguins also have to share the beach with elephant seals, some of which can be seen here.

It's amaizing! So many chicks! Very unusual to see penguins near green bushes. Interesting shot. May be some out of focus. I've made a workshop, hope you like it.
Thanks for share.

Very impressive scene. All the penguins, the bird of prey, and the glacier towering like a skyscraper above the birds.

What an amazing gathering! You saw quite a sight here. I have to ask though, I thought penguins only lived around parts of S. America and maybe Antarctica, is S. Georgia Island a property of UK, and so, where exactly is it? Also, I've been looking for Antarctica on TE and can't find it anywhere, maybe you an help me out, as it seems you may have been nearby...
