The beautiful Guernsey coastal path is a 40 mile round island walk much of which is steep and challenging. The cliffs are mainly on the south coast, and the south-west and south-east corners. Broad, sandy bays can be found elsewhere. Fourteen friends from the 'Horsham Walking for Health' have just returned from a week that included several walks that used the coastal path. Five of us did an extra 13 mile walk to complete the whole circuit! Total walking mileage for the week was 50 miles. This picture was taken a little east of le Gouffre on our way to Petit Bot. There were some steep steps down to a bay off the main path/steps where a lonely boat can be seen.
The Channel Islands are close to the French Coast (Normandy) and in bad weather can suffer from fog. This we found out when our turboprop aircraft had three aborted landings and a diversion to the neighbouring island, Jersey. A flight that should have taken less than an hour took eight! The next day the sun shone and the weather was wonderful, although windy, for the rest of the week.

Not a point of view for those who suffer from vertigo:-) You precise framing makes for a very pleasant balanced composition. The little boat sat in the turquoise waters makes a fine focal point. I like the tonal contrasts. Good light management and excellent clarity.

this picture has very summery atmosphere and reminds me more of the landscapes of Mediterranean area than Channel Islands. The high POV resulted in good and wide view over the interesting coastline. The tiny boat in one of the bays adds very much to the whole composition. I like also the fresh colors and very good sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

bello scatto, la barca isolata è perfettamente posizionata nella tua composizione e le scale che si vedono, mi mettono un po' di terrore, non ci andrei mai.

Hello Ann, 50 miles in a week is not so much (if without heavy luggage) but with going up and down can be indeed challenging. But what views you had! Horsham Walking for Health' it must be fun. Was it Nordic walking? My friends go with a group of it.
Nice composition, excellent presentation of spectacular landscape.

Now that path looks quite challenging and a bit scary too. But the color of the water is sublime, the little boat adding a nice focal point.
I have only ever been on Guernsey Airport, as a stop over from Jersey to Zurich, but I truly love Jersey and its sometimes wild coastal landscapes with the great light towers and the incredible differences between the high and low tides. Almost got caught up by it once ..
have a great weekend

It sounds as though you have had a wonderful time in Guernsey even although much of it was pretty hard work! Those walks sound really enjoyable. Did you do or see any "ormering"? Or did you try eating the ormers? I saw a programme on telly a few weeks ago about this seafood speciality from Guernsey and I'm sure they'd be one of the things I'd want to sample.
This is a fabulous photograph which I can fully appreciate despite my acrophobia. Did you actually venture down those long steep steps?
Your composition is very well thought out and works exceedingly well despite the fact that the little boat lies almost exactly central in the frame. There are very good lead-in lines and there's also a very strong lower-left-to-upper-right diagonal which hoild the whole picture together superbly. Very wise to omit any sky and the light and colours are truly delightful. Stunning details and sharpness throughout.

A breath taking coastal scape taken from the best possible point. it is filled with a wealth of colourful interest, good clarity and the boat lends good scale and visual interest. the turquoise water is a real colour booster and your exquisite lens work is fully admired, very well done shot. TFS

Belle vue plongeante sur la mer aux couleur turquoise, composer d'un seul bateau, de si haut il est minuscule, un endroit sauvage très attirant

The colour of the water is amazing, almost unbelievable. It reminds me of some more exotic parts of the world. :-)
The boat, skilfully placed in the frame adds a sense of scale and human element.

This looks like something out of the Greek Isles or Mediterranean Sea. The water is amazing and although it looks very inviting, given what you've written in your note, might not be as safe or inviting as it looks. I love how untouched the place is, these places are getting fewer and fewer. So thanks for taking us here and also for putting ideas in my head for the next time I travel to Britain ;)
