Photographer’s Note

This was taken on the beach at the Baths on Virgin Gorda. These mammoth rock formations extend out into the sea forming these grottoes.
Virgin Gorda is the third-largest (after Tortola and Anegada) and second most populous of the British Virgin Islands (BVI). Located at approximately 18 degrees, 48 minutes North, and 64 degrees, 30 minutes West, it covers an area of about 8 square miles (21 km²). Christopher Columbus is said to have named the island "The Fat Virgin", because its silhouette resembles a rotund woman lying on her back.
Virgin Gorda is one of the BVI's major tourist destinations, largely because of an unusual geologic formation known as "The Baths" located on the southern end of the island. At The Baths, the beach shows evidence of the island's volcanic origins, as huge granite boulders lie in piles on the beach, forming scenic grottoes that are open to the sea. Swimming and snorkeling are the main attractions here.

Good view of the clear water, since I believe the grey color in the background comes form the sand underwater. Good point of view through this tunnel of rocks to show the more lighted part in the background.

I couldn´t resist to commment this picture first from your nice gallery. I found Virgin Gorda in 1990, travelling for my honeymoon. It was a quiet island at that time, because there wasn´t ships visiting the island. The baths are surely the most famous postcard from this nice island. Here you did a nice shot, capturing that colours and mood very well. I´ve been in the island again in 1998, by sailboat. This is an beloved island for me.

Asa, j'aime beaucoup ce jeu de lumière et d'ombre sur ces rochers et sur l'eau d'un beau vert d'eau. La composition est très bien faite et la texture du rocher est bien rendue.
