[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Taken at dawn from the middle causeway looking back towards Aird Snout.

The Causeway is a cooled lava flow - the hexagonal shaped columns being formed by cracking as it cooled, the Aird Snout in the background is made up of a second lava flow.

I didn't realise until I got there that the sun rises behind Aird Snout, so I had to wait until the sun was quite high to get any light on the causeway itself. I'd have liked to have got some detail in the background, but with the choice between the sky or Aird Snout, I went for the sky.

Thanks for looking.

wonderful image with such finely captured tones and colours and brilliant use of the perspective and textures. great work indeed. Finely balanced.

Hi Benjamin,
Amazing colours....superb composition...and perfect clarity in difficult lighting. You've really managed this exceptionally well, resulting in a great photo. Well done.
Cheers Grant

Hi Benjamin.
Nice shot this one,a beautiful landscape with beautiful colours.Very strange these rock formation of lava, very attractive.I think that in this case choose the sky was a good choice.Only miss a little more sharpness yn close-up,maybe it's for re-size it to upload?
Regards,
Sonsoles.

Benjamin
Lucky you living near the sea. Good strong composition. Good clouds although the bright (sun) bit seems burnt out a bit (suspect that nothing can be dome about this).
Regards Colin

Hi Benjamin, I love the saturation in this shot. The colours are vivid and varied, but not overdone. Great composition, with lots of layers through the scene.
Well done
Craig

awsome light and compo well done love it aj

Benjamin,
This is a nice shot of the giants causeway. The colors of the sky are great making this scene even more surreal. Your composition and POV are great as is the sharpness and DOF.
TFS,
Asa

Hi Benjamim!
Astonishing view... the hardness of the rocks will be melted by the heat of the sun, that's coming up!
I travelled in it... that's what good shots do to us!

Hi Benjamin,
Very nice composition. The framing is very well done with the stones in the foreground giving a good DOF. The peak is very well placed on the picture. I think anyway it is a little under exposed. The colours of the dawn in the sky are very beautiful.
Regards,
Olivier

Hi Benjamin
What a smashing shot. Great POV with loads of DOF. The colours are really nice. I wonder if you could have lightened up Aird Snout with a bit of dodging?
