Photographer’s Note

Portstewart is a seaside resort in the east of county Derry, close to universitary city of Coleraine. On the west of the town, there is a wonderful sandy beach about 2 miles long, dominated by nice dunes : Portstewart Strand. From the beach, when you look to the west, you can see the nice outline of Downhill cliffs and Mussendem Temple top of them (it has already been shown on TE, and tomorrow it will probably be my turn !). The beach and the dunes are owned and managed by National Trust. You have to pay to access the beach ... in theory, because I paid nothing ! The beach is divided in 3 parts, limited by pieces of wood as you can see on the photo : a part for swimmers, another one for surfers and a last one opened to everyone, in particular to ... cars ! This is something that looks very strange for a french like me (you couldn't imagine such a thing in France), but you really can drive on the beach. And to be honest, I loved it lol

Une très belle composition, j'aime beaucoup ce paysage, avec ses tonalités douces.
Bien vu aussi la diagonale formée par les piquets.

Bonjour Olivier

Une image minimaliste d'une grande pureté.
La composition est extrêmement rigoureuse, chaque élément a une force incroyable et rien n'est laissé au hasard.
La juste position des pieux amène une grande profondeur et une ligne de fuite intéressante.
De plus, tu as su retranscrire une ambiance particulière, d'une grande sérénité.
Magnifique, bravo.

Une jolie composition , aux teintes très douces . La rangée de pieux en diagonale est évidemment un atout , mais les nuages sont également très beaux .

Salut Olivier,

A well composed photo with a great arrangement of the wooden sticks and balance between sky and sand. I am amazed at how smooth and natural-looking the sand is - looks like it hasn't been trampled by the hordes of tourists yet. Or, maybe they won't come, if you have to pay to access the beach? (Nice thought for you, but probably not true...)

I like the colours too: they are warm and happy without being overdone.

De bien belles plages pour le plaisir du char à voile ou du sulky. La photo était tentante ici et tu as eu raison de ne pas hésiter. Des paysages comme je les aime un fois de plus. La série de pieux donnent un profondeur appréciable à l'image et ce ciel un impression de mouvement. Encore un bon bol d'air, merci Olivier.

Une vue toute simple, où l'alignement des piquets offre une excellente persepctive.
Un beau ciel assorti de quelques nuages, le tout respire le calme et la sérénité.
