Photographer’s Note
Solar Wind - This was a series of 30 sec exposures lasting about 50mins then blended in Startrails software. The red in the sky was city lights and passing cloud during part of the duration.
Ballycopeland Windmill is a functioning windmill located one mile west of Millisle, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is managed by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and is open to the public.

Excellent night shot. I love pictures of star trails and the effect it creates. The city lights on the passing clouds add to the beauty of the picture. I have a question though: How can you tell the position of the canter of rotation? I am not good with astronomy!
Great work.

Hi Stephen
Nice astronomical picture and very good lights exposure management
Did you made a stitch of several pictures of 30 seconds exposure ? Because one picture was not enough I think.
That's great, because it's not simple to make it.
Best regards

Stephen,
This is a great shot and outstanding post processing. Your composition is nice placing the windmill to one side and allowing the stars to be seen on the other. The lighting and colors are great as is the sharpness and DOF. Great job!

The stars are moving but how come I can see every single blade of grass? Was it a completely windless night?
It's a great idea to put the windmill and the "skymill" in one picture :)

Another great one, Steve!
The whirling stars make me feel like I've been drinking - even though that isn't the case! :-)
Wonderful shot!
Take good care,
