Photographer's Note
St. John's Point lighthouse, County Down. This is an archetypal lighthouse, situated on the rocky coast near Killough village. The area is quite barren and wild. It is a very atmospheric place at which to take photographs and is particularly interesting in the early morning or late evening when darkness is all around and the only noise is the crashing waves, lit up periodically by the great light swinging around overhead.
Nikon D90. F18. F/L 12mm. Exp 1/8. Sigma 10-20mm w/a lens.

Hello Nigel,
I like this kind of picture with an interesting composition (even if I would have like to see the lighthouse reflection in the water), and with a great sky.
Well done.

Nigel
You found yourself a great viewpoint here, for sure.
Interesting effect the wide angle lens gives here, the stones in the FG look almost vertically below, whereas the lighthouse is clearly right in front and vertical.
Well I hope it is !
Whih gives the water a curious almost convex appearance.. Wierd !
Often, they say, we should contrive to find a splash of red to enhance our image; here the vibrant yellow does a perfect job.
Bravo !

Hi Nigel,
Nice POV on this nice "honeybee" lighthouse ! I like how you included the water in the foreground. It would have been better again with reflections of the lighthouse there ! Nice dark sky that creates a great atmosphere.

Olivier

Hello Nigel,
This composition has been well thought out with an interesting FG leading up to that wonderful stripy lighthouse positioned well in the frame. The colours are so good against the grey sky. Lovely detail and clarity in this well managed shot.
Kind Regards, Ann
