Wow Brian - The clarity in this shot is amazing, wonderful management of this enchanting scene. From the excellent detail and motion you captured in the weir, to the mirror reflections in the pool to the fresh green tree line it is gorgeous. Congratulations on a fine piece of photography. have a lovely Sunday Rosemary

Hello Brian ,
A fantastic composition ! greenery , the pond , the red ground and the rocks , teh water fall , of course : so great features here .
I like the effect of the long exposure for the seven little falls , less for the water in the corner . But I must admit that this is just a matter of taste .
dkmurphys (58038) 2012-06-18 9:35
Very fine dynamic of the river. I like the atmosphere and the relaxing forest. Well composed.

This is an amzingly beautiful photograph.
I know that some people detest "milky" water and that others adore it: I'm really pretty ambivalent to it and it really is an effect which cannot be avoided if you use a long exposure - as you have in this case - 28 seconds, no less!
I presume that this was taken very early in the morning or late at night (your exif data says it was taken at about 8 a.m. but it also states that the date was 10th January, 2006, so I guess we can't rely on that!). :)
Whenever this was taken, it must have been really quite dim. I do like the "milky" effect here but, more than that, I really love the glassy appearance of the water in the pool above the falls and the fabulous reflections in it.
Fabulous colours, spot-on exposure, lovely light and, as always, stunning sharpness.

Fantastic moment to capture the action creating good contrast. The light was low to enable a long exposure and this image works really well as we can feel the flow and gushing sound coming from the falls which were superbly soften by the milky water effect. Great composition and impressive pov, perspective and color intensity. Great atmosphere really fits the serene mood, on the whole I like how it can sometimes be dynamic rather than just fluffy. Thats why this one made it for me. Cheers for the thoughts, TFS

Good Morning Brian,
I have really enjoyed just 'looking' at your shot. It reminds me so much of images from my childhood, when I read stories of fantasy and fairies. Your shot is beautifully composed, the pathway and stepping stones giving one viewpoint, whilst the river and waterfall give another. It is sharp, colourful and reflective, whilst the waterfall gives a whole, new almost etherial dimension.
Have a lovely day,

Hello Brian , a lovely piece of photography,I really like the combination of the golden Autumn leaves and the green Spring foliage.
The line of the path across the verticals adds a good dynamic touch and the cotton wool water works well for me.
All the best Les.

Even if I'm not a big fan of waterfalls at long exposure, I must say that the compo here with the white waters at FG and all the gradient of greens is really extremely pleasant
Further it's done with excellent quality
sacavem (18620) 2012-06-21 8:39
Good use of the long exposure, the look is real good.
note: While I think that less exposure time photography would be better, it's just a personal opinion. Because I do not like to see "the veil of the bride" too white.

Stunning capture, I love the effect on the water while the rest of the image remains so crystal clear. Great colorus and perspective, thansk for sharing.

I like the point of view, it's original,
most people wil start the water from the
Light management and composition are
as always excellent.
delpeoples (57666) 2012-06-22 8:09
This is stunning photo. I read your comments about you not being happy about the exposure on the water, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I think you did really well with the exposure as I assume that the light in the foreground and that in the background differed so substantially. You did a great job in evening it out. The textures of the forest floor and the reflections in the pool in the midground are sensational. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations ! What a beautiful shot, great result for the water, well managed and the light is also perfect, tfs.

Not so easy place to photograph, I suppose. You have done a great job. I like the exposure. Clarity, colours and the effect of the water are very good and the wonderful reflection makes it perfect! A very good shot!

Very cool Brian, the lush greens and the silky water always provides a winner shot, beautifully exposed and the crop looks perfect to me. Detail in rocks is stunning.

Wanda1 (15142) 2012-07-17 9:02
What a beautiful and tranquil place. I just love the blur motion of the fast flowing water on the bottom half and the very still mirror water reflecting the beauty all around on the top section.
I like the interspersed rust colours of the fallen leaves scattered all over and your composition works well with the water flowing to the bottom corner.
mjw364 (850) 2012-07-22 6:54
A beautifully composed image. Pin sharp definition and crystal clear reflection in the water. Nice colours and well exposed in the foreground too.
Judging from the blur I am guessing you used an ND and a long exposure? I have recently bought some NDs and am planning a trip to North Wales to try them out. Looking at this shot and others in your gallery I can see you have mastered them. Any tips?
Without wishing to be too cheeky as a newcomer talking to a clearly experienced photographer I might have cropped the upper edge of the image about an inch further down to emphasise the foreground more but that is just my very humble subjective opinion. I guess we all see things differently.
But aside form that - this is a cracker. Many thanks for sharing.
