ballykinler beach is situated between st. john's point and newcastle along the coast of dundrum bay in county down, northern ireland.
this picture was taken just before sunset as the sun was disappearing behind the mourne mountains which are visible to the right of the picture on the horizon.
it was fascinating just to sit and watch the light change the landscape every few minutes until the sun was replaced in the sky by the moon.

la luce dell'ultimo sole radente crea effetti speciali sulle rocce evidenziando muschi e licheni e splendidi riflessi sulla pozza d'acqua.
Magnifico POV, eccellente gestione della luce, grande sharp.
Have a nice day

You are becoming a great advert for the beauties of Northern Ireland.
Your low pov captures the amazing mixture of colours and textures on these shoreline rocks and uses it as a fine prelude to the wider horizon of sea, hills and lovely evening sky.
My warm regards,
lgir (6673) 2012-05-08 9:42
Excellent color contrast on this rugged shoreline and especially under a sky exceptional.
Very good work

Now I reckon we're gonna have to write a checklist for you from now on :) Handbrake: check, keys: check, mobile phone: check...but more importantly, kick-a*se photo: CHECK! This is stunning, and you;re absolutely right about how quickly the light changes and the different ways it can play on the seascape. The textures and contrast are impeccable with a depth of field razor sharp from start to finish. What an amazing place, and how beautifully you have photographed it. Congratulations.
Have a great day

jaw dropping view!
Of course I remember it very well, and you know I remember it because every time I am reminding you about it :)
This place is magical and it offers incredible photo opportunities. Here you have perfectly used the opportunity. This is a real masterpiece. I like very much the selection of the foreground with the vegetation covering the rocks. The Mourne Mountains look mystical far on the horizon. Excellent exposition and play with the filters.

the point of view is excellent and the view, starting from the closest rock, achieves superb depth out to the open sea. The textures and the feeling of humidity have been captured very effectively, clarity is outstanding. Thanks to the masterful lighting, there's an immense palette of chromatic tones on earth and sky, each of them lovely, together they make a fascinating visual impact. I love the streak of water reflecting the sky and the view of the distant hills over the rocks and the sea. Congratulations and thank you for sharing the picture and the experience.
All the best,

Ciao dear Brian,
fantastic scene, characterized, as always, by the perfect photo quality and a great work in PP. Really pleasant the reflection of the sky on the water between the rocks and the unbelievable clarity that allows us to appreciate the moss covering the rocks. Also extraordinary the feeling of the depth. Sincere congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice Sunday!

its funny, but my favorite part of the scene are the Mourne Mountains in the bg, and the clouds.
I just find it completes and anchors the photo.
a great atmospheric and landscape scene.

Superb colours and detail in this one Brian, and the last rays of light on the left hand side make it for me.

C'est une très belle photo. Les couleurs sont magnifiques ! Le cadrage aussi. J'aime le détail des rochers, les algues, les nuages qui se reflètent dans la petite flaque d'eau. Composition vraiment bien réussie.

I would too sit and watch this landscape through changing light, as it looks like an alien landscape more than an eartly one. The mountains are positioned beautifully and the selection of colours in the foreground are great!
mjdundee (4657) 2012-07-11 0:28
A underwater scenery combined with a sunset and stunning BG and sky. To me it looks a little bit oversaturated but I would still give it a place on our living room wall.Great photograph. TFS

Love the strong contrast and colours, light is delicious, the two combinations of filters brings strong results which I love
