Cold Winters Morning Photo

Photographer’s Note

Taken This morning at 7:40 AT -5 Degrees. It was cold. in Derrymore woods in bessbrook Co Armagh. A picturesque wood owned by the National trust near that has the popular attraction Derrymore House just down the hill from where this was taken.

Bessbrook is situated in South Armagh about 5km west of Newry. It is passed on the S by the A25 and on the E by the B133 but neither road enters the village. The site was chosen in the mid-19th century to build a large linen factory and the core of the "Model Village" dates from the second half of that century. Most of the original village still exists and there are many modern additions.

What a great shot !
All the elements are perfectly used to make a strong composition. The fence makes a long perspective, and the branches makes an elegant frame.
The light and the mist are marvelous, and give a very soft atmosphere.
Perfect sharpness, and amazing colors.

Wow, this is a fantastic shot. The strength of the old (oak?)tree in the fg giving way to the fence and the gentle mist in the bg make a great composition. Good colours and detail, regards, Jean

Hi Gary,

Very atmospheric image. The sky at 6:15 this morning was the strangest pink I've ever seen in the UK. It was all I could do to keep from phoning in "sick" to work and head to the fields with my camera. This image makes me wish I had.

Nicely framed and great use of the trail.

What a great composition ! The tree on the right with its branches drive us to the gate and the path going through the fields and the fog. The contrast between the colorful foreground and the cold atmosphere in the background is great.

Hello Gary, he path leads perfect eye from trunk in the foreground. Also the mist in background is fantastic, so great moment and photo job, tfs.
