The Dark Hedges, Armoy, Co. Antrim.
This group of trees known locally as ‘The Dark Hedges’ are thought to be around 300 years old. They are reputedly haunted by a ‘Grey lady’ and form an arc over the road.
Iv passed near to this location many times but was mistakenly informed that these hedges were cut down by the DOE due to health and safety issues. I am glad that decision never happened or at least has been delayed. It would be a shame to see this happen as it is a wonderful sight to see, like a scene from "Sleepy Hollow".

No the kind of photo I usually like but this one, as you mentionned in your note, reminds me the world of Tim Burton. The choice of the b&w was the right one.
Strange atmosphere, no doubt.

of course this is a place full of mystery and charm and the shot is very well done, whit this network of branches and the light at the horizon

Certainly a very picturesque road. Curving tree trunks seem to all have taken a slightly different direction, like they had a mind of their own. Certain fairy tale feeling, especially in black and white.

Hi Stephen. If a place was to be haunted, this would have to be it. It looks haunting enough without the Grey Lady.I am sad to read that these very old trees are possible destined for the chop. Such survivors should be respected and cherished. Beautiful shades of grey and superb use and management of light. My compliments on this evocative creation. Klaudio.

Bravo.

Very interesting note and wonderful picture of that place!
Excellent choices: vertical format, pov, black & white for the picture and the borders!
Sharpness, exposure, pp, contrasts and composition are all outstanding!
TFS - congrats!

A real fairy tale illustration, a magnificent surprising view enhanced by the play of light and shadows, a discovery.

I love how the branches are all intertwined and the vertical format shows them off beautifully. GREAT light and contrast, excellent depth and I love how it looks kind of misty in the distance. It looks magical and it would be a sin to cut them down. That is a lovely shot. Many thanks and kind regards,

I couldn't leave this one alone! Very intriguing. And a wise decision to do it in B and W. Truly amazing. I have tried these sort of tunnels in the local rubber plantations in Thailand. What strikes me here is your wonderful DOF, and the control of the light. Original indeed. I do hope they are not cut down. Fine work, and a great addition to your gallery! Kind regards,

The trees look alive and ready to grab the next traveller who walks past.
jimkil (1706) 2010-10-17 14:50
We see many tree images here on TE, but this one beats the lot, I love the convoluted trees and the bend off the road, excellent bw conversion and pp to get these effects. You'd have a field day in NZ with our trees.
All the best
Haymotion (2759) 2010-10-22 2:05
Tout a fait extaordinaire et unique ce passage dans la forêt..
Ce noir et blanc ajout une atmosphère sombre et inquiétante..

I hope that these trees will be cured because they are an only patrimony! they are worth every expense for this. the way in which you have photographed these wonderful giants is extraordinary, seems to watch something that do not exist, nevertheless there's all the beauty of the natural places. a work thousand times magnificient, like the rest of yours portfolio.
have a nice sunday
