Another picture of a traction engine at the steam engine rally in Ballymena Co. Antrim. This Ransomes Simms and Jefferies engine dates back to around 1903. They were the workhorse of the agricultural industry for years until the advent of the internal combustion engine and the first tractor.

I am a city boy, but I have country cousins and worked summers on a Kansas farm (driving a modern tractor) in the 1970s -- so I know only enough about old tractors and farm equipment to be dangerous.
But danger is what screams from this machine, no? First, it is HUGE, even compared to the 1970s John Deere I drove (that had an enclosed cab). But all the exposed mechanisms explain a lot about the many stories we all heard of some friend or relative who was lost or injured badly in a farming accident!
My last question was really going to be my first -- are those solid rubber tyres? (Jeremy, Richard, and James taught me to use the Y there!) I would think that contemporary American tractors were still rolling on metal rims. Fascinating!

We often have a steam rally where I live, where a whole fleet of tractors and similar farm machinery parade through the streets and lanes. It is certainly quite a spectacle!
You have captured some fine, sharp details of this old beauty. Those wheels are particularly impressive, and colourful.
My only suggestion would be to add a small border, to define the edge of the shot, since the blown out sky has bled into the surrounding space.
My warm regards,

Is it still puffing, Arthur?
Great old stuff seems to be working, and very well preserved and painted with marvelous colors.
Fine details of the machinery shown ablout.

Nice scene indeed
But the exposure was setted on the dark parts that's why the sky is washed you should underexpose about 2/3 EV
I have done a WS

What a beautifully kept and amazingly huge vehicle! You captured this under really pleasant light, and at a great angle, this would be a perfect showroom picture, were these still for sale in showrooms. Imagine driving to work on one of these :)

Sensational image with this old car, splendidly preserved through the years, great POV centering the image with its figure, but showing the environment of the fair with people and other vehicles.
Good management of light and sharpness.
Have a great weekend.
All the best.

I like very much the perspective and the way the engine dominates the frame with its placement, size and elegance. It stands out as 3D and its details are delightfully sharp. You've given enough context around it for the viewer to get a glimpse of the scenery and its atmosphere but the engine is the undisputable protagonist and can surely fascinate even the viewers who are not familiar with this kind of machinery. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Lovely photo document of our industrial heritage. Such things are so seldom seen nowadays and it's great that people keep the old machines working. Fantastic.
