[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was shot at Portland Bill, a rocky and hilly peninsula which lies at the end of Chesil Beach - the longest shingle spit in Europe. Most of Portland Bill consists of a town, a prison and a naval port but right at the far end a little of the area's original wildness may still be seen. The rocks here are Portland limestone which has been pounded, shattered and eroded by the sea. A magnet for photographers, in other words.

This small boat was pulled up above the tide line for the night when I came across it at sunrise. What drew e to this composition was the way the curve of the boat was mirrored in the clouds....

Hello Julian,
great sunset shot, great to put that boat in the foreground, not only that it gives very interesting curves and emphasises the space and above all the golden light line on the sides of the boat is wonderful.

the vertical frame, in this case, gives more depht to the scene.

Lovely sunset shot indeed. (It is sunset, right?) Your balance of land and sky works well, even though the horizon is close to the halfway point. Great combination of colors, too. I think the boat is just a bit too close to the right edge, though.

Did you have to pay Mr. Ian Lloyd for the use of his boat in the composition? ;-)
The good old times. And I'm not referring to the Portland limestone as a building material, but to your equipment and the use of Velvia and ND Grads on a film camera :-). My compliments!! Wonderfully exposed, good detail, pleasant light and very well scanned and prepared for upload. Nice work!!
